Bluetooth not connecting.
A friend of mine has a Nokia phone which uses bluetooth to transfer pictures and video from his phone to his computer. About half the time however, bluetooth does not connect, and he has to restart his computer before it does.
Has anyone heard of this happening, and know what the problem could be? The phone, the connector or the computer? Thanks in advance. |

Which Nokia phone is it? It could be a problem with the phone (maybe like a design bug)...
Also, things to look out for are to makesure that drivers are the latest versions and thers no interfering devices around. As for the restarting the PC, not sure? Maybe restarting resets the bluetooth or something.

There are really a lot of things that can go wrong with this whole setup. There are lots of wireless gadgets competing for small chunks of bandwidth. Hardly any service runs all the time, systems get overwhelmed ... plenty of glitches left to work out. I've been going retro. I'd rather read a book than mess with any of this stuff. Books always work when you open them.

Thanks guys, I got him to check the drivers and they were fine. He says he'll be taking it to get it fixed sometime, to see if it's the phone that's the problem.
ScottV, I agree with you completely! Technology is so difficult sometimes. |

It's because Bluetooth is completely undependable and hard to use. I don't know how it is that the 802.11 standard works so well but the 802.15 (bluetooth) standard is so ridiculously lame.
I've heard that it helps if you hit the phone really hard with a hammer. (Disclaimer: Hitting your phone with a hammer may void the warranty.) |

Yeah, he got the bluetooth thing changed for free, and it seems to work completely fine now. It'd be nice if it had worked from the start for sure!
