Help!!!!

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me.I have just bought a motorola v3 second hand.the phone is originally on Orange.The guy i bought it off told me it was open to all networks.I always use O2 so i got a new O2 sim and put it in the phone.i was a bit confused when it said 'Unregistered Sim' i have registered the sim but it is still displaying the same message.What does this mean???? Does it mean the phone is blocked??
