Downloading ringtones: So 2005

Is anyone else tired of seeing commercials on TV for downloadable ringtones and wallpapers? Are these not the lamest commercials in the history of commercialdom? Seriously. Are people actually buying these?

Discuss.

People must be buying them or it would not be worthwhile to pay for the advertising. It still amazes me that they do though with the likes of bluetooth and free ringtone sites about there really is no need to spend £2.50 on a ringtone.

I think those commercial are directed for kids who just sit in front of MTV for the day and download the latest songs and graphics! Kind of like my next door neighbor and the HSN!! LOL

I cant believe people actually buy from those annoying adverts! They obviously must do due to the amount of times you see them! I can honestly say I have NEVER like any ringtones I have heard on these adverts and find them more annoying than anything!

I think the fact that they are annoying is what attracts younger people to them though. Anyone would think that teenagers are annoying.

I really dont understand how they can afford commercial time, they have the cheesiest commercials and the gayiest jokes and ringtones. They should be going out of buisness soon.

Well, they're obviously making money from someone out there. I suppose I'm overestimating the intelligence of the average cellphone user.

I don't really see the point either, spending money on a song that will only play for a few seconds at the most. A lot of the people I know who use them are just following what they think is cool. Maybe I'm just to cheap to see the point.

I've never seen ringtone ads, except Jamster. Oh god, that was so annoying. But the tune got stuck in my head. There's a insanity test somewhere, where there's a picture of a car driving down a race track and the jamster music playing in the background. If you can look at it for 5 minutes and not laugh, you're sane. Its a huge waste of ad money and time, however. Who's going to remember a 10 digit number, waste $2.50 for just a fancy noise?
