Text messaging

Do you text message alot? I use it when I need to just vent a little. Like if I'm having a bad day at my job, I'll text message my DH and just vent in one sentence. It's easier than calling him at work and having him to have to listen to me B****!

I don't use it too often, it takes longer to text message someone instead of just picking up the phone and calling them. Cost about the same too.

I send 20-30 text per month - usually to my wife when either one of us is out and about and needs a lift or to say we're running late etc. For these types of messages I think it is useful and has advantages over voicemail. But I can't understand peeps that need 500-600 a month! The skin must fall off your fingers at some stage

I have been known to send 400-500 texts a month before now but that's gone down to about 30-50 in recent months. It just depends how much I need to be in contact with people and I do often send out the same message to 5 or 6 different people at once which is easier than ringing them all.

I hate text messaging - I have 150 free every month with my contract and always have over 100 left at the end of every month. Its just too much effort - I would rather call and actually talk to people

I'm not much of a text messager, but I know people who only text message. Some of them don't even bother checking their voice mails. That is a little extreme, but I suppose it works for them.

I text message only when the person is not available to talk to. You can get so much more said in a conversation than you can with a text - works out cheaper that way

Just recalled a story of a colleague at work a few years ago - she emailed me from the desk next to mine asking me what time I was planning to take lunch at. She almost jumped out of her skin when I turned round and actually spoke to her!

Has anyone else had similar experiences with text messages?

Not really, it cost 10 cent per message so really the only text messages I send are the ones telling people not to send me them anymore.

Text messages are sometimes better than calling. At 1c per text, I can't resist spamming out text messages like crazy. Its almost like a second MSN to me.

I like to text if its too short and not worth calling, but if its longer than 20 words, i don't feel like typing it with the crappy keyboard they have on the phones.

TextMessage Queen

Im slightly embarassed about this but text messaging has become my new form of IM type communications. I love it. You don't have to commit to a long conversation and the best part is you can send little nice sentiments (or angry fight words) to people throughout the day when they wouldnt be able to take a call, for instance at work. I myself, love getting a text, even if it's just someone saying "hi, thinking about you, call me later."

The good thing is, even when somebody's not on MSN, they'll usually be holding their mobile.
