Voice recognition

I think this is a very good tool to have on your phone, escpecially when your driving. All's you have to do is say the persons name and it dials the number! How often do you use this feature?

I use the feature a lot, but it does not work when you have a cold or a sore throat, or if your voice changes at all. But, it is very handy for when you are driving, and need to keep your eyes on the road.

To be honest, I don't find that the voice recognition works well enough with my phone. I guess its the way I pronounced it to begin with, but, I find that by the time I'm able to say the name correctly, I was better off going through the phone book and pressing enter.

Yeah, only one friend of mine has ever used voice recognition on her phone. She'd say 'Dad' and it would dial 'Christy'. Needless to say, she didn't use it too often!

Yeah, I had this on my last phone but it never seemed to work properly. I had to shout at the top of my voice before it'd realise I was saying anything and then it would ring work instead of my missus.

Has anyone tried the voice recognition system on the Odeon Cinema booking line - even with my wife's perfect "Queen's English" it never seems to work properly - even when there is no background noise. So I can't see how VR would work on mobiles with any degree of accuracy..

Voice Recognition is a fantastic idea - unfortunately it rarely works properly for me. I normall end up shouting at my phone and by the time its worked the person calling has either hung up or are in the middle of leaving a message

I can only ever think of the movie "LA Story" when I think of voice recognition.

"Dial Mom!"
*ring ring*
"Hello, Domino's Pizza, Julian speaking..."

From the sound of things, the technology hasn't exactly been perfected since then.

Hahaha hatmandu. Voice recognition doesn't work too well if you're sick or something. More than once I've gotten sick and said 10 times "dial mom" ( ) and nothing happens. Its more show than usefulness.

How do you use voice recognition

I could easily call TMobile and ask but I'm boycotting their customer service unless I absolutely have to use it because it is so damn hard to get through to a person and I hate talking to that automated woman who repeats everything and gets it all wrong and wastes time. So..i have the most basic, oldest Nokia model phone, i dont know the model number but it says in one of the menus it has voice recognition. Anyone care to kindly explain to me the basics of this: such as, how it works, how to work it and why one would benefit from it more than just hitting a few buttons? Also, a general guide as to the most likely category titles (profiles, settings, ring tones??) etc that it'd be in to set it up would be awesome because im so phone stupid, i waste so much time and frustration going back and forth through the menus. thank you.

Missinguisit, the reason why they have that automated woman is so people can't ring up and go "f$#k you and your crappy service! I hate you I'm going to Optus". Most people are extremely fustrated when they bother to call Customer Service. They lose some customers by having this machine, not a person talk.
