Windows 10 May 2020 Update RTM Now Available on MSDN

Microsoft has released Windows 10 version 2004, or the May 2020 Update, on MSDN, so developers can now download the final build for their devices. The feature update published on MSDN is a sign that we’re getting closer to the official launch of version 2004 for production devices too. Microsoft has a few mandatory steps that it must complete before a new feature update gets the go-ahead for PCs across the world, and shipping the final build to OEMs and publishing the final build for developers on MSDN are two of them. At this point, we still don’t know when the company plans to ship Windows 10 May 2020 Update to users across the world, but there’s a good chance this would happen in the last week of the month. The company has been trying to push it back as much as possible due to the global health crisis and the update itself has been done for a long time.

"Rollout in stages" People familiar with the matter said the update reached the feature-complete stage back in December. Once an update is feature-complete, it no longer receives new features, with Microsoft focusing exclusively on fixing bugs and polishing the experience overall. Microsoft shipped the final build of Windows 10 May 2020 Update to insiders in the Release Preview ring a few weeks ago, and since then, the company is only working on last-minute fixes that are shipped to users bundled with cumulative updates. Windows 10 May 2020 Update comes with a long list of major improvements, including updates for the search experience, the second-generation Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL2), additional File Explorer refinements and so much more. The rollout will happen in stages, and additional download methods like dedicated ISOs and Media Creation Tool will also be offered once the go-ahead is given.
