Post New to forum, and also have a question.

Hi everyone,

This is the first time I have joined one of these forum sites, and I did so in the hopes that somebody might be able to solve a problem that has occurred, a problem that I am being told, by all the main mobile companies, is an impossibility. Yet I experienced it!!!

Last Thursday, 25th June, I received a call on my mobile phone, a Nokia 3120 on the 3 network. from my other half who was phoning from our Virgin land line. After talking to her for a short while I happened to look at the screen and there was a mobile number on the screen that I didn't recognise. I asked her whose phone she was calling from but was told that it was the house phone, which as I say is a land line.

The mobile number that was on the screen was in my received numbers box, so from that information it indicates that I received the call. However I never spoke to the owner of the mobile, as I was on the phone to my misses at the time and I don't have call waiting switched on. Had I missed the call then it would obviously have gone into me 'missed calls box'. I have never heard of the mobile number, and on phoning it back we have to leave a voice message asking from the person to contact me...we are now on Wednesday with no luck so far.

When 3 was contacted they said that it was an impossible situation to have occurred as land lines work in different ways to mobiles, which I can appreciate. But this still doesn't help explain to me how I could be talking to my other half with a completely different number, and a mobile number at that, showing on my screen.

All 3 could say to me was that they would book my phone in for repair, but as there is nothing wrong with it I cannot see the point. One other point being the fact the the other mobile phone number was also a 3 user, if that's of any significance?

If anyone has experienced a similar phenomenon, and has found out the cause, then I would love to hear from you as this is driving me nuts trying to work out how it could happen.

Thanks in anticipation.
