Thinking about buying

Hey guys I've been doing some research on the iPhone and I'm really thinking about buying one, but online theres nothing but mixed reviews, and I'm not sure about it. Can anyone who owns one (3G-Pay as you go) give me any info on it?

Whats the deal with the wifi, does it work everywhere?
Is there a way around lack of mms, does it make much difference?
Is the camera that bad? (I go to see a lot of bands and a quick snapshot is always handy)
Is there a better, faster alternative with the same/better features?

thanks in advance

1, Yes you get internet but some areas are patchy with the 3g which is
faster connection.

2, Currently the iphone does not support this and as far as im aware no
3rd party apps are not available.

3, 2mp is below average in this day and age. Perhaps no lower than 3.2 is
average. But with 5mp and 8mp now the average the iphone is
somewhat weak in this field.

4, Perhaps the tocco is better with slightly quicker internet access
although at the moment no fone on the market matches the touch
interface.

£349 for the 8gb or £399 for the 16gb is fair which incorperates 12 months unlimited internet access and then £10 a month therafter is reasonable.

Thanks for replying mate, it doesn't seem all that bad, but not great either it's a hard decision.

I've heard that you can't get custom ringtones on it, is it true? And what do you think about the texting interface? Does it support bluetooth?

Thanks.

All you can use via Bluetooth on the iphone is for headset calls.
Maybe they will open the bluetooth profiles in time.

Yes you can set a tone as your incoming call alert.

No MMS which is a shame too.

Texting at 1st is a learning curve but you get used to it and adjust.

I remember when I first got my ipod touch and used the touch interface when online. What a nightmare at 1st but you soon adjust and will be texting as fluently as on a normal handset.

Thanks very much for the info mate, it seems to lack a few things but I'm hoping things like video recording, mms and bluetooth may come at a later date. But for now I think the awesomeness outweighs the suckage.

Cheers again
