US iPhone 3G 8gb in the UK
Hey
n00b here, writing from LA. Ok, I live in the UK but am currently on holiday. I can buy the iPhone locked to AT&T for $199 in the Apple store. I can then either buy an AT&T contract or AT&T PAYG. The assistant in the Apple store said he could unlock the iPhone for a nominal fee, so I could use it on other networks - bearing in mind some features won't work on all network providers. I was wondering, I currently have a BlackBerry 8300 on o2 PAYG. I would like to use the iPhone in the UK - by getting it unlocked in the Apple store. I can easily transfer my current o2 number to the o2 'iPhone PAYG' sim. This information is the same as the o2 site about getting the first 12 months wi-fi/browsing free when you register 3G. Could I bring the iPhone back to the UK and get everything to work OK (phone/web browser/emails, etc) and use the o2 Iphone PAYG service? If you can help, I'd be very appreciative and may even send you a postcard Thanks Grant |

Ensure it is fully unlocked.
Your 02 payg will then work as long as you ask 02 to activate it as an i phone and they supply the bolt on for internet. On payg you also have to go into the general settings and change the apn to 02payg. Look on 02's website for the exact configeration.
