iPhone tariff - room to negotiate?
I'm looking at an iPhone on O2, and can just about justify the expense for a gadget I really want. Unfortunately, however, O2 seem to have some strange contracts for the iPhone.
The base offering is the 600mins/500texts at £35
The next two offerings keep the 500texts, but increase the minutes to 1200/3000 for £45/£75
The thing is, that I don't use many minutes but fly through texts. I also can't justify another £7 (pushing the total to £57/month including insurance) for unlimited texts.
Is there any chance that I could negotiate with O2 a little, to swap some minutes for some texts? Considering that calls are 19p/min if you go over, and texts 11p, I'd hope there's some leeway for a straight swap.
I presume that they won't think of it like this, but I'd like to know if anyone has ever negotiated like this with a new contract and whether it was sucessful.
