VOIP & Landline
Forgive me for being a noob but I just couldn't understand the difference between having a VOIP and a landline. As far as I understand, VOIP can be used in calling overseas but with a landline, we can also do that. Also, they said that VOIP can be used for other phone features, e.g., call waiting, transfer, etc. But, isn't it that a regular landline with the same features can also do the same??

VOIP is used through the internet. Landline is used via telephone lines.
Landlines are dependent on the integrity of phone lines. For example, if a storm comes through and downs telephone lines, you lose service. VOIP is dependent on internet connectivity and power. If the power goes out in a storm, you lose phone service - regardless of the status of phone lines nearby. If you lose connection to your ISP, VOIP doesn't work. HTH |

By the way I just saw a new cingular, I think it was cingular, technology, that will allow you to pass cell calls off to your wireless network when you get home.
So you can drive home talking on your cell, then you can transfer the call to your voip set up or wireless phone in your house. |

That's a great set up via Cingular then. They just keep adding to their services which is incredibly inticing!

That cingular feature sounds great. No cingular here though, unfortunately.
