LG Banter Review
The LG Banter is a slightly altered version of the LG Rumor 2, except that it is being released by Alltelís network. When you compare this particular phone to the Rumor 2, youíre going to notice that this one has more of a rectangular shape to it. Another thing that this phone has is interchangeable plates that let you change the look of the phone. Also there were a few more keys added to the keyboard for a few features. Itís still a great phone that has been actually enhanced due to the changes and I think it would make a great phone for a lot of people out there. Iím going to give you a review of the LG Banter to help you decide whether it is good for you.
The features of the phone:
ē 2 Inch Display
ē 1.3 MP Digital Camera
ē QWERT Slide Keyboard
ē MP3/Video Player
ē WAP 2.0 Browser
The Banter has the very popular feature of a slide out QWERT keyboard, which a lot of other phones use. The full keyboard is becoming much more popular on phones because more and more people have to type and using a number pad is just tedious work. This will help reduce times when youíre writing emails and can even give you the ability to easily write notes right from your phone.
The digital camera on the LG banter isnít really anything to get excited about. At just 1.3 megapixels it is an okay camera. Youíre not going to have anything that would out due your friendís phones, but for actual pictures you take it should be fine. It also has a digital zoom, so it isnít entirely that bad.
This phone isnít going to run on the 3G networks that youíre finding with a lot of the newer smart phones. It might sound like a disappointment, but it runs on the typical 800/1900Mhz networks, which is perfectly fine. You can do a lot of great things like email, browsing the web, instant messaging, etc. Itís still a good phone; you just wonít have access to the fast 3G.
This phone has all the normal features that most phones have such as an mp3 and video player. You can connect to your phone through a USB. Another interesting feature that the phone has is Stereo Bluetooth 2.1. This allows you to connect to Bluetooth stereo headsets, which are wireless, so that you can listen to your mp3 player with in a completely wireless fashion. Itís a nice feature because it can be frustrating dealing with a wire to your phone.
I wanted to talk about a specific feature of this phone that many people donít talk about, and that is the battery life. The battery contained in this phone is a Lithium-Ion, which is really a top quality battery. Your phone will last for 288 hours (thatís 12 days) while in a stand-by mode. Thatís basically when the phone is left idle to wait for a call. It also gives about 5 hours of talk time. I think itís important for all people to understand the battery of the phone because nothing is more annoying than having to constantly charge your phone because it has a useless battery.
I guess it comes down to the big question on the LG Banter; what is it going to cost? Well, since it is being released through Alltel, it is actually quite cheap. As long as you sign up for a 2-year contract, you can get the phone for only $19.99 (after a $50 mail in rebate). Thatís pretty decent for a phone like this and Alltel is the only one that is going to give you this good of a price. US Cellular is going to be offering the phone too, but they will make you pay $50 for it.
I think this is a pretty decent phone. Could it be better? Of course, but for the price I think it is a very good buy. You get the full slide out QWERT keyboard, with the digital camera and mp3 player. At $19.99 from Alltel, itís just too good of a deal to pass by.
