Who was THE original network?

Lets go back to the history of cell phones. What was the first network you had ever heard of? I think it was probably Sprint for me, they used to have commercials all the time!

I believe it was AT & T that were the first company to set up frequencies to allow mobile phones to be used back in 1947. However then it only allowed 2 way radios, since what we call mobile phones now can call a ny phone in the world.

Neither did I, but WWII did create many oppurtunities for technological advancements. I would've never guessed mobile phones were one of them.

The first 'mobile' phone I ever used was a rental from Hertz cars ...it was a huge black box (about a foot tall and six inches wide!). The receiver was connected to the box by a cord and it was a pain to work, but I thought it was soooo cool then!

I think that Bell Telephone had the first one, way back in the 50s. Again, they were more like walkie talkies than the phones that we think of today.

I guess we will be suprised when the first mobile phones were used - when you consider the internet was in use in the 60's I wouldnt be suprised if mobile phones of some sort were used in the 40s.

I think you are right. Though it might be AT&T (Cingular now) since they have been around for an awful long time.

Well you never know for sure. For all we know it could be AOL or Microsoft! You would have to ask the person who invented the cell phone.
