Switching Carriers-Fee

Does it ever happen where one service provider offers to pay off your cancellation fee with another service provider if you sign up for a good deal/contract? I know back in the day AT&T and Sprint and MCI, all the long distance companies for land lines would pay off the switchover fee, but i think with cell phones we're talking a much larger expense.

I've never heard of that, but that sounds like a great deal! My brother is actually interested in switching carriers; he's not content with Sprint. His phone (Treo 650) has the ability to function with whatever network, so he's looking to switch.

Its needed because if they didn't have this i would get a good deal on a phone and just constantly switch around for the best carriers.
