UK networks vs. US networks.

We've seen debates over which US and which UK provider is better, but has anyone here used networks in both countries? If so, do UK providers have a better overall service than US ones?

Don't providers have affiliates in other countries? I know when I went to Europe, every time I changed countries the carrier (I think) changed. I got a new welcome message from the local one when I went ti France, UK and Ireland.

I think networks, in general, in both countries, could benefit from further development but I think the UK is on a better track.

As an Amercan transplant to the U.K., I think the service here is far better especially when it comes to signal rate. There are major corridors of the U.S. which have virtually no service. There a huge area between New York City and Boston where it's almost impossible to get a signal. People there have not accepted the cell towers (hidden as they are) and environmentalists fight every plan to put one up.

Oh wow, of all places I thought the big cities like New York and Boston would have complete coverage. I'm not from a huge city, so I didn't know this was the case. Strange though. Thanks for your inputs guys.

No, not all cities have complete coverage. There are "dead zones" all over Chicago. You can be riding the "L" in the middle of a conversation, train stops and the line goes dead. There are parts in my neighborhood with no service as well.

And I agree with vicki2 that there are gigantic gaps in service. Just look at the coverage maps of carriers, and there will be noticable pockets all across the country.

Speaking of the gaps, who do you blame? Environmentalists or cell providers for not being more adaptable for scenic areas???
