Network Scams

Have you ever been scammed by a network?

Early in the days I had a "provider" which said they'd charge me a flat fee of 3.99 pounds/month. Now that being an incredible deal I jumped on it. My first bill though was 38.99 pounds, since they added a bunch of bogus fees. That contract was worth the cancellation fee!

I don't think I've been scammed either. Everything has been fine and dandy with my network provider. Did you tell your network about the problems of the over charge?

Sprint tried to scam us pretty well once...we paid to get roaming protection but they forgot to tell us that after we use all our alloted minutes the roaming protection turns off. So we had to pay roaming charges for all sorts of minutes. They were pretty good at refunding the fees, but that was after a forty minute conversation with a manager.

Usually guys it is not the netrworks that scam. You will find especially in the UK that the re-sellers and dealers are scamming. Especially through distance telesales marketing...

No, I've only worked with Cingular, and they're too big and important to resort to scamming. Plus if they did, it would turn into a huge scandal and lose them a lot of money.

I haven't been scammed, that I know of, but I have so many different items on my bill that I'm not sure I'd notice! I did once detect an error, though, and it was traced to a salesperson who had entered an incorrect code, charging me for individual text messages even though I had a text-messaging package. It was readily corrected once discovered, and all prior mistaken charges were refunded.
