t mobile is 10c a min when you buy there 100.00 card. I get there 100.00 card on e bay for $87.00 every time. That card adds on 1000 mins. So im paying 8.7 cents a min going though e bay with t mobile.

Is T-Mobile prepaid the same like family plans as far as if your friends have T-Mobile you don't use any of your minutes. Or does it deduct mins anyway?

I wish. No its not like that at all . I call my friends who have t mobile with my t mobile pre paid phone and I still get charged. Back then I got text for free and now they charge 10 cents to send and 5 cents to get one. Still there the cheap ones around. you cant beat there price and there very nice. I put my last phone in the wash and the nice lady on the other end changed my mins to my new phone. Im starting to use my cell more and more so I think ill be going to a plan with t soon. They have some great deals around here 1000 mins 2 phones for 50.00 a month. Thats only 25.00 a month per phone. Anyways hope this helps. |

I have been a long hold-out to cell phones and finally took the plunge just this week. I decided to go pay-as-you-go just because I don't think I'll use the phone much. If I find I do, I'll switch to something else. I'm posting because I feel very happy about the phone and service I got from Cingular's GoPhone. I didn't look at all the services out there. I narrowed my choice down to Cingular or Verizon because those seemed to be the two that had the best coverage in my area (Cingular has a map on their site which lets you check your exact address for coverage quality). In comparing the two, one thing stood out. Verizon charges 99 cents per day whether you use the phone or not, whereas Cingular charges 1 dollar only on days you actually use the phone. Verizon will cut your service off if the 99cents/day uses up all your funds! To me it looked like it would be more expensive to do that than to just get a regular contract. I concluded that the only reason anyone would do Verizon's pay-as-you-go would be because they have terrible credit. The only plus I saw with them over Cingular was unlimited night time and weekends. With Cingular, I don't have to worry about paying each day even when I don't use the phone, and I don't have to worry about service being cut off. The other thing that made me choose a Cingular GOPhone were the huge discounts on phones they offer if you buy it from their web site. I got a pretty nice Nokia 6061 flip phone that has a lot of features, plus 10 dollars of starter time, for $39.99 with free FedEx shipping -- a $50.00 discount. It seemed like I'd have to pay a lot more for a comparable phone elsewhere. So, I think Cingular has the best economic deal if you're truly someone who won't use the phone much. It's 10 cents/minute plus the 1 dollar each day you use the phone. Calls to other Cingular users are free. $100 cards don't expire for a whole year; lesser amounts have shorter expiration dates. And, although I haven't tried this yet to make sure it works like I think it does, apparently each time you re-fill with a new card, the minutes you have left over from your last one carry over to the next expiration date. Also, they give you some free minutes awards when you re-fill more and more. I'll probably move away from pay-as-you-go someday if I end up using the phone more, but for now I'm pretty happy with Cingular's deal. I measly 40 bucks is all it took to get a pretty slick phone delivered in two days with some minutes on it ready to go. |

Actually, the Nokia 6061 is now $29.99, so $60 off! And I tried my first refilling and I think I had it right: The expiration date on all of your minutes seems to forward to the new expiration date. If I'm wrong about that, someone correct me. But that's what happened with my first card. Additionally, once you get going for a bit you start getting $20 of free time for every $100 you put into it.
Just wanted to update that because there seems to be a lot of questions about cards expiring. You can keep pushing the expiration date for your minutes down the line as long as you keep refilling when you run low. |
