Problems with Orange texting

Anyone else having problems with Orange? I'm trying to send a text message to my daughter, but I keep getting a "message not sent, try again later" message.

I'm using her phone number from my phonebook, so I know it's entered correctly (I've used it to phone her), but over the past hour the message just won't go. Same thing happened to the same number a month or so ago.

I haven't sent any other text messages, so I don't know if it's a general problem with my phone (Nokia 6170), but I have received messages OK.

Then, trying to contact Orange is another thing ... 450 doesn't connect because their network is overloaded; the landline number doesn't work, probably for the same reason, and I can't find an email address for them because all the options on the Orange web site just lead me to the FAQs and, even though I respond that my question isn't answered, it still doesn't lead me into a screen that will allow me to post a message. Does anyone have a direct email address for the customer service department, please?

Message-sending problem solved -- the phone number stored in my memory was in international format (+44...) but also had the leading zero in it

But contacting Orange is another thing ...

Orange and their service sucks.

I got a Orange SIM once and tried to send a text - the number was perfect I checked a billion times - and it failed but took 30p out of my credit!

I am with O2 now.

As I said -- or perhaps didn't make clear -- when I took the unwanted "0" out of the number in my phonebook, the text went through instantly. Shame they didn't have a "Invalid phone number" or "Number not recognised" error message, instead of "Message not sent, try again later".

Yes, but in my case the number was fine, as I said.
