Question Vodafone, Direct Debits and My Rights

Hello, I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on a problem I can't find the answer to anywhere.

I went to my bank the other day and asked them when my direct debit to vodafone would leave my account (I rarely look at my bank statements as they come to a different address). They said that although there was a direct debit set up, vodafone hadn't taken any money in about a year (18 month contract).

If, at some point vodafone realise this error (their error not mine!), can they charge me the amount all in one go? Without telling me? Can they fine me?

Cheers

Sounds like a clerical error to me personally, you'd probably be safer phoning customer support just as reassurance.

Yes they are entitled to the funds as you have been using their services, and have signed a contract, so at some point they will make contact with you to request the amount be paid. They can ask for the sum in full or they can set up an installment plan.

Your call but maybe its worth contacting them to discuss the issue as you have been allowing the amount to stay in your account ,so it would be available to you to clear this debt.
