Upgrading your phone through cingular
I have had an old nokia for a long time and I have been out of contract for over 2 years. I recently discovered that I could upgrade my phone, so I called Cingular and inquired. Sure I can upgrade, but I would need to have another 2 year contract with them, which I'm not willing to do! I have been customer of Cingular for close to 10 years! You'd think they would want to keep me as a customer and waive the 2 year contract!

You'd be amazed at what they do! My dad used to use cingular. They had a special on for new customers right around when my dad wanted to renew his contract, but they wouldn't give it to him because he was a previous customer. He just let his contract expire and then re-signed on to get the deal.

With Cingular and Verizon, upgrades are very easy and still semi-cheap. IF your plan is almost up i would suggest letting it expire then getting a phone for extremely cheap.

If you are near done with your plan an upgrade should be very cheap, even if your not the prices should still be good.

If you don't mind what kind of phone you get, you can get one for free! You can get a 1 year contract if you want, but you would need to pay more for the phone. Remember, sometimes contracts are good things, they can't change your plan until it is up!

Thanks for all your advice! I don't use my phone too much, so maybe I'll go to pay as you go plan and pay for the phone. I guess it all balances out in the long run.
