unsolicited Upgrade calls "Free Upgrades"
Has anyone ever had any calls from this number 08002888858 Its a company called Free Upgrades website: Welcome to FreeUpgrades - Free Upgrades on the 3 network and they phone using confusing language to appear authentic based in leeds, their address is:
Mistral Telecom T/A FreeUpgrades - Danwood House, Gelderd Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS12 6DQ Company Reg 03533282 : VAT Reg GB 756 1454 23 When you try to cancel (As is your right) They try all kinds of means to stop you doing so. So far they have tried... - Telling the customer they are stupid to want to cancel such a great deal. -Replaying the original telephone conversation without warning or explaination. - Refusing to put a supervisor on the phone. The only thing that seemed to work was a threat to go straight to OfCom. This company are connected to the 3G network and how this bullying sales and customer retention is allowed to happen shocks me. Has anyone had any similar experiences? |

Unfortunatley its nothing new.
Companies that are set up to sell network services are very much hard sell , and can intimidate sometimes. They offer the world for a deal that sounds too good to be true, although I know of some friends that are happy with the service/deal provided. The industry watchdog will confirm that you have a cooling off period to cancel the contract. Them replaying the initial conversation and using pressure tactics is all to common. My advice is to never agree anything over the fone and arrange for you to call them back or agree a callback from them at a certain time/date to allow you to check out the company and t&c's. Also allows you to check whatelse is out these online or in the shops.
