Unhappy Contracts on 3 Mobile - would like some advice please

Hello, seven months ago, I signed up on an introductory six-month contract with 3 Mobile, purely for their rather excellent Skype Phone. When I called them today to sort something out, they informed me that I was, in fact on an 18-month contract. Confused, I told them that it was the six-month one that I actually signed up for, and that I had the paperwork to backup my claims. They rectified this immediately, but that rectification has led to quite a bizarre turn of events.

The reason I wanted out of the 18-month was that I'm planning to be out of the country for at least one year come next April, and of course didn't want to carry on paying for something that I can't use. The problem is, the six-month contract would've ended in August, and so they've put me straight on to a NEW 18-month one, starting today! This is, of course, worse than my original situation!

Does anyone know of any way that I can opt out of this? Do all contracts have a cooling-off period? If so, would I be able to cancel this current one, and then re-sign for another six-month introductory contract?

Any help on this is greatly appreciated, many thanks.

- Tim

3 can be a nightmare to deal with, my girlfriend had problems ending her contract and even after that we still got sales calls asking all the usual BS questions.

If they will not terminate the contract on amicable terms then i suggest you cancel the dd and pay the additional charges.

this isn't a free option but it will be cheaper that the 18 months of useless contract.

Have you asked them about your situation to see if you can carry the contract on abroad. 3 are an international company so service charges abroad may be as cheap as they are over here ?
