PAYG handsets not locked to network
Within the last 12 months I have purchased PAYG handsets from carphonewarehouse on O2 and T-mobile, both of which weren't 'locked' to the network and were unbranded. I also bought one from phones 4u a couple of years ago on O2 which again wasn't locked or branded. I have had contract phones direct from O2 which were unlocked and wondered if PAYG handsets direct from the O2 shop were unlocked too.
Does anyone know of any other retailers whose PAYG handsets are unlocked for use on any network. Cheers. |

Most contract handsets are unlocked.
Carfone Warehouse payg are also unlocked as they are an independant retailer who simply 'marry up' their handsets with the chosen network they sell you it on. This is why I choose them to either buy on payg and use my own sim or just buy sim free. Handsets from cell shops like vodafone, 02, orange, t mobile and especially 3 are locked out to other networks and are branded too.
