Help! Is my 3G costing me?

Hey all.

I have just got a Nokia 6500slide on Orange UK.

When the signal drops to 2 bars, the 3G symbol appears.
Does this cost me in anyway?

Thanks.

If I haven't signed a contract with AT&T for my iphone, how much will 3g internet cost?
