Not exactly well "up" on this. I think you ask your present provider for the "PAC" number, then supply it to new provider who, I think, can then transfer your number to their service. Think this info. is in booklet you get with with new sim cards, E.G. payg. type, Hope this helps.

I thought they had to allow you to keep your original phone number, wasn't there a big stink about this not too long ago?

Yeah they are required to allow you to transfer your number. It is fairly easy to do. When you sign up with the new provider they will get some relevant information from your old provider and then manage the change over for you. In some cases it only takes a few hours for the switch to happen. I just did it recently and there was no problem.
All cell phone numbers have to be portable, in the same area, so if they are not allowing it, they are doing something wrong. |

In the US, you can transfer your number. However, Orange is a carrier in the UK. I'm not sure if there's any such law there. Taia |

In the Philippines, you can't change your number just like that. Every provider has their own number.
