Matrix42 Redefines Enterprise Mobility Management

Silverback by Matrix42 offers new functions for data protection and comprehensive monitoring

LONDON, ENGLAND, 2nd March 2015: Matrix42 (www.matrix42.com), a top provider of software for workspace management, is raising the bar for managing mobile devices with the newest version of the Silverback by Matrix42 software. The latest features improve data protection, separating professional and private data, and providing multi-language capabilities.

Despite the fact that the use of mobile devices by professionals is increasing, the majority of companies do not yet have an adequate solution for managing these devices and the apps installed on them. In a Matrix42 survey, IT representatives from around 1,500 companies named the following three topics as the greatest challenges in this field: The complexity of managing and maintaining mobile devices; the issue of separating private and professional data; and the license management required for software and apps used on laptops and tablets.

Comprehensive Solution
With Silverback by Matrix42, the software provider is offering a comprehensive solution for managing mobile devices and workspaces, facilitating the provision, management, and deployment of mobile IT resources in a cost-transparent way. With a central interface available in multiple languages, it facilitates simple, secure, and scalable management for devices running Apple iOS, Google Android, Samsung SAFE, Samsung Knox, and Microsoft Windows Phone. The new software allows companies to provide their employees with simple and secure access to their familiar workspaces via both private and company mobile devices - access that is set up within just a few hours and without IT having to manually interact with the devices.

First to Market: Android for Work Support
The separation of business and private data - such as contacts, calendars, documents, and applications - on personal and company devices protects the privacy of employees, and it also ensures that sensitive company information is protected according to the specified company guidelines. Silverback by Matrix42 offers zero-day support by Android for Work under Android L. For instance, users of devices with Android 5.0 or higher can easily switch between private and business profiles using Managed Profiles, at any time and without sacrificing productivity. The new functions include an option to manage restrictions using Android for Work, as well as optimized certificate management.

Custom Security Settings
The security settings can be configured individually for users, devices, and operating systems alike. The solution also offers limited time slots with one-time passwords and real time-based hardware authentication processes. PKI integration ensures secure, automatic logging on to IT services. Single Sign On without synchronized AD log-on data likewise contributes to the level of security.

Secure Management of Applications and Documents
The new solution is fully suitable for internationally active companies and teams thanks to the interface being available in multiple languages (German and English). The management of mobile end devices can be taken care of automatically and without a client, and it also includes numerous functions for mobile application management - such as the distribution of applications via the Self Service portal or using whitelists and blacklists for applications. Mobile work and cooperation is facilitated through integrated data and content management, which among others includes a secure content hub, Microsoft SharePoint integration, protection against application-level data loss, and the synchronization of data between different devices.

Silverback by Matrix42 Companion App for iOS
Silverback by Matrix42 is also available to iOS users. The companion app offers iOS users a secure workplace for accessing documents, preconfigured Internet and intranet pages, and applications. Private and professional contents are stored securely and separately on devices and are also accessible offline. The companion app offers:

Synchronization of business and private data
Secure access to available Internet and intranet pages without additional configuration
Personal file manager via drag & drop
Microsoft SharePoint integration
Real-time cost capping for data roaming
The Silverback by Matrix42 companion app for iOS is available immediately from the Apple iTunes store.

Oliver Klünter, Product Manager at Matrix42, explains: "Companies should not idly stand by and watch development happen; instead, they should get involved in the management of mobile devices and applications. With the right strategy and tools, e-mobility complexity can be managed, company guidelines can be applied, and the productivity of employees can be increased. In addition, Matrix42 facilitates seamless integration with the entire Matrix42 product portfolio."
