Listing cell phones in the phone book

I know more and more people who have only a cell, and no home phone. Is it possible for them (including me) to list our numbers in the phone book, or do we need a land line?

You know, that's a great question, and I honestly don't know of any network that offers that service. It would be great to be able to look up cell numbers that I need - I know that currently, my son, my daughter and I all have only cell lines and no land lines for various reasons... and I can never remember my mother's cell phone when I need it. A national 411 for cells would be great.. or is there one that I've missed?

I'm surprised there isn't an online look-up that's more comprehensive!
It's like a fog land out there for numbers!

There's something in the phone agreement that they will not spread your details. They can't put your details out until you consent, and no phone company's going to ring / send out millions of calls/letters just to make a phone book they have to update like crazy, because people break, lose and buy SIM cards everyday.

I think this would be a bad idea since some people use their cell phones as either for work or for personal reasons. Not something you want random people to call and possibly you dont want people to know about.

I saw a website where you could submit your cell number to a list which was kinda like a phone book only online. I dont think I would do that since it would pretty much give anyone access to phone you and I hate that.

If you look at your phone book closely, it is distributed by a certain phone company, whomever is in charage of the landline service in your area. Thus, you can not get a cell phone listed in the regular residential listings. In my area verizon puts out a phone book as well. I imagine that cell phone #s could be listed in there if wanted.

How could you not have a home phone? Well, if they only have a mobile, cell phones could be listed in the phone book but only with the consent of the person. That would be useful.

I absolutely hate people having my number anyhow. At home, my phone will ring and, unless it's a friend or someone I want to talk to, I will just let the answering machine get it. The ONLY reason that I like cells and tolerate dragging one about with me is because I don't get all these random calls. If the phone rings, I know it's someone who needed to talk to me and it's someone I care enough about to have given my number to.

Why should I have a home phone? I carry my cell phone with me everywhere. Why would someone need to reach me athome when they could reach me on the cell everywhere. It just seems like ti would be a wasted $30 a month for something I would never use.
