How do I wipe clean the memory of my Nokia 6230?

Hi there

This may not be possible but can you wipe the memory of a phone as you would your hard drive? I need to return the phone and don't want anything of a personal nature being able to be retrieved. The files have already been deleted but I know that with a hard rive on a PC they arent actually deleted, it's just that that part of the hard drive cant be written to. Thanks for any help. Great site.

Is there a data wipe or master reset function on your phone?

You can try contacting Nokia. They have a remote data wiping command for security use following loss or theft. You might be able to use that.

Cool

Go to factory settings and enter 12345 when prompted for the code.

This will return everything to the factory settings.

Then I would manually check everything too

Thanks for your replies, does returning it to factory settings completely wipe off everyhting that's ever been recorded, deleted or not? Is this deleted info retrievable anyway? Thanks

I erased everything on my Nokia when I was giving the phone to a friend ...I checked and double check, and I couldn't find a thing left there.

Does anyone else know if this same thing works for an LG thru Verizon? My husband and I are thinking of doing a new contract with new phones in the next month or so but I've got so much personal info stored on this one I'm nervous. I can't find anything in my manual about restoring factory settings.

You can try this when it's time:

Enter 277634#*# on the main standby screen.

If that doesn't work, send LG an e-mail.
