I wish my mum could use text - I sort of dread phoning her as I know she'll keep on the phone for hours! I'm trying to convince her to use text when she travels but it doesn't grab her as a good idea - different generation I guess.

I wish more people texted. It is frustrating to listen to 15 different phone conversations when you are out at an event when instead of screaming "WHAT?? CAN YOU HEAR ME??" they could simply text a question and answer.

I think that texting (much like cell phones, themselves), has a time and a place. That place should NOT be in school, when your on the teacher's time, nor should it be when you are entertaining some other form of company, like a lunch date, business arrangement, etc. Texting, however, is great for in the middle of a movie theatre, if you need to leave the phone on for emergencies during dinner and something important comes up, etc.

Yeah, I've taken to texting when I'm on the train. Except it's running up my cell bill so I need to watch it. Still, text messaging has become a useful tool, especially when trying to meet up with people in a noisy club or concert.

Texting will catch on in this country just as emailing from Blackberries and the phones with Windows on them. The US is always behind the rest of the world in most forms of technology but we'll get there.

Good point about the train, Econ!

It used to drive me crazy on Metro North when people would be on their cells during the trip home at night. Cars full of tired and napping people who were forced to listen to 'i'll be on the 6:12 so pick me up, ok?' , 'i'll stop at safeway, what do you want for dinner? ...no i'm not making faitas again!', etc.
