Best Cell Phone Product Placement
I remember when I was working for Siemens, and they were going to market with a new cell phone, that the company was all excited over placing the phone in a Will and Grace episode...With that in mind, what show or movie would make a great product placement opportunity for a cell phone?

I like to think The Apprentice would be a good place, since it has the high-quality business image to go with it.
90% of the time however, I think product placements are a waste of time. I know I wouldn't notice the brand of cell phone a certain show member is using. I prefer to just watch the show. |

You know, the Apprentice is a darn good pick...probably best one out there that I can think of, since the whole show is developed around that particular product. Though if the teams perform goofy enough, the campaign can backfire on them...you win a shiny gold star…(side bar: I was listening to the awful Arby’s jingle they came up with last night, and it did not make me one to run out and get one) I can sort of see your point about product placement, who wants a commercial mixed in with their entertainment… but if you get the right vehicle for it, it can pay off...The big bucks are up for grabs for marketing gurus who come up with the right idea. |

Well I know 24 for instance does tons of product placement, instead of commercials. I don't think they do too badly simply because the press constantly talks about what product placements have been made. They don't actually seem to gain anything from the show itself though.

I see the daily use of cell phones on soap operas. I don't really know if thats considered product placement though, since I really can't tell one phone from the other. Maybe they should have the soap stars talk about their phone providers and accessories. That would be good product placement.

Other tv show that the characters are constantly seen using cell phones is the O.C. Every single one of them have one and every episode they are using them. I guess in Newport they can afford them though. haha.

Like anyone would really admit to watching the O.C....Like anyone really cares that Ryan and Sadie are trying to decide what they will do after high school...or that Taylor holds a college party and Summer and Marissa work on fixing their friendship...I mean really, who would watch such a thing? |

...and you would be correct. I had to look up a summary of this week's show...but I will admit to watching Everwood, which kinda reminds me of my teenage years minus the fact that I am not a prodigy on the piano, or as big of a dork trying to figure out girls...and I can attest to the fact things move rather slow in Everwood and hardly anyone has a need of a cell phone. |

Surely no one who doesn't watch the O.C. would care about such things. You obviously don't. Personally, I think product placement in movies is the way to go, eg. if Tom Cruise used the RAZR in MI:3. I certainly don't care which cell phone Jack Bower is using, only that he uses it to save the world from bad people. If the phone had a way to shoot people, I'm sure that would help. Someone should probably look into that. |

Aaaah, see there. Another prizewinner. My slightly veiled sarcasm is just not fooling anyone, is it? ...and one step behind on that gun-phone issue...but MI:3 does make for good product placement. Hey would it help any if Jack Bauer looks at the camera, pulls up his phone and says..."The Nokia Terminator 2000" the phone I save the world with...and then goes back to the show?...Hey, just asking? |

Come to think of it, on the latest season of 24, Jack is obviously using a Treo (I believe) quite extensively. I imagine that I have already been preempted by the product placement already in ... place ... on that show.

I was watching VH1 today and they were talking about before the Razor pink phone came out, they gave it to Paris Hilton, and immediately the company got phone calls wanting that phone! That's product placement!

Wow, that is preoduct placement indeed! Terribly sad that it takes Paris Hilton, off all people, to sell a product.
