Sell Old Mobiles

Hi All - I am new to this forum

I tend you upgrade my phone every 6 to 8 months. And if you are anythng like me you will have a top drawer full of old mobiles.

I thought about selling them on ebay but was put off with the hastle some of my friends told me they had doing it.

I recently done a google search on 'sell mobile' and a few sites came up who offer to buy your old phones.

The ones that I thought were pretty professional were:

www.mopay.com.uk
MazumaMobile.com - More cash for your mobile. We are one of the leading specialists in promoting the re-use and recycling of handsets
envirofone - Turn old mobile phones into cash or rewards

Has anyone ever used any of these?

Mazuma Mobile seem to pay the best prices and pay the fastest.

I sold my Samsung D500 on mazuma mobile. Got £43. Much better price than envirofone and much less hassle than ebay.

Got paid after 3 days of sending my phone.

Their website is MazumaMobile.com - More cash for your mobile. We are one of the leading specialists in promoting the re-use and recycling of handsets

Highly recommended.

If your in the uk try a shop in the highstreet called CEX as they will give you a price dependant on the quality of the handset.

They have a web site Cex.com where you can input the make and model of your handwset to see how much the return would be.

Thanks guys.

I've sold my K750i on MazumaMobile.com - More cash for your mobile. We are one of the leading specialists in promoting the re-use and recycling of handsets today. They are paying £55 which I think is pretty good seeing as they only require phone and battery (I can keep memory card). They phone is pretty scratched but they are not bothered about cosmetic condition.

The order process was very easy.

I'll let you know how i get on.

hmmm

I recently sold my samsung e900 to cex.

They gave me £70.00 cash or £92 trade in.

Your site only offered £55.00.

They also offered £105 for my 8800.

Cex was £175.00.

Proves its better to shop around ! !

It may prove to shop around but it also proves to get your facts right too!

After reading your post I contacted cex to sell my K750i. Here's what they offered:

Grade A (like new) £40
Grade B (cosmetic blemishes) £36
Grade C (poor cosmetic condition) £27

Seeing as my K750i is pretty scratched (as mentioned in my post) according to cex it is grade C. That's a whooping £27 compared to mazuma's offer of £55. How is that better??

Further more, heres what they offered on the other models you listed:

Nokia 8800
Grade A - £156
Grade B - £132
Grade C - £108

Samsung e900
Grade A - £70
Grade B - £62
Grade C - £49

So unless you are selling them a new phone you are no better off!

Here's their grade discriptions:

Grade A - Working phone in excellent condition. Complete with original box and accessories as sold new.
Grade B - Working phone in good condition with slight cosmetic blemishes. Charger supplied. If the phone includes a music player/radio then it is supplied with headphones. If the phone has PDA functionality a sync cable and/or docking cradle is supplied. Missing original packaging.
Grade C - Working phone in poor cosmetic condition. Charger supplied but missing accessories and original packaging.

Chandler ,

They are always changing their prices depending on the quality of the handset, which i did say in one of my postings if you read it.

I did not go into the detail as you have done as i was simply advising on a chain of shops i have dealt with ,and the info you listed was readily available online.

My facts were not wrong as i neither said you would get a better deal with cex just that they are another avenue to look at.

My post on the samsung e900 is correct as I got £70 for the handset or could have trade in at £92, again what i posted and the price must have changed for the 8800.

Also if you checked out the site etc they do give you more as trade in instead of cash and can use this to purchase other mobiles, games , software or hardware.

So it shows that dependant on fone , quality etc a wide scope of return is apparant as in my last posting i got a poorer offer from the site you have used to the shop i used.

Take care.

This forum is a user to user site to assist people with issues, worries and questions about cellfones.

The other postings selling items should be treated with caution.

If it sounds too good to be true then it most likely is.

If in doubt google search the seller or buy from a well known established company.

And to add to Lee's comments...

You have to take everything you read as opinion. We're talking about the internet here. Anyone can post anything...do your research to decide which "facts" are reliable and which aren't.

Sell Old Mobiles

Your has-been cellphones may still have some resale value.

Web sites such as CellForCash.com, SellYourOldCellPhone.com, GreenPhone.com and CashOldPhone.com will generally pay between $2 and $200 for functioning phones that you are no longer using, depending on the make and model. These sites refurbish and repackage phones to be sold in markets such as India and Latin America.

Check around, as purchase prices will vary. For example, CashOldPhone.com offers to pay $48 for a Nokia 6102 camera-phone while CellForCash.com offers just $13 for the same phone. Some sites, including CellForCash.com, offer to match competitors' prices. You can generally sell phones that are up to four years old. However, "the 'sweet spot' for value is between one and two years," says Seth Heine, president of RIPMobile.com.

Most sites issue check payments, but RIPMobile.com gives gift certificates to retailers including CircuitCity.com and Starbucks. Sprint Nextel customers using the company's sprintbuyback.com get credits on their accounts. On the Web sites, you can typically print out a postage-paid shipping label or request a postage-paid box. Drop your phone in the mail and wait about 30 days for your payment.

Each site requires phones to power up, make a test call and have functioning features. Payments may be reduced for operational but cosmetically damaged phones. Make sure the service on the phone you send has been canceled and also delete your personal information. For instructions on how to erase your phone's memory, go to wirelessrecycling.com and click on "Phone Data Eraser."
