Sprint's very most basic "LG"

So. I have this phone. Sprint makes it: it's one of their LGs. [ETA: S/W Ver: LX12SP29] It's downright primitive, considering all the things phones do these days: It makes phone calls, it contains a phone book, it tells me the time, it lets me set alarms/reminders, it has a calculator, and, if I'm bored enough, it has a couple of itty bitty games on it.

I found out by accident that it can also receive text messages. I found this out because someone in China spammed me. I cannot, however, send text messages.

I'm relatively satisfied with it. But I just replaced the hands-free accessory, so now I have this ear-bud thing with a button on the boom which appears to do nothing whatsoever. It would be nice if I could get that button to begin a call when the phone rings or end a call when I'm done; then I wouldn't have to take out the phone, flip it open, press "OK" to answer; take it out, flip it open, press "END" to end the call. But I don't know if this thing even has the capability to interact with that button.

Has anyone any experience with the LG that could tell me the super secret hacky method for using this button?

At the risk of looking like a loon for replying to myself:

To be precise, the phone I have is the LG 1200.

I did some research since my earlier post, and I see that its User Guide says that you can go to Settings and Car Auto Answer and turn Auto Answer ON. This is supposed to cause your phone to pick up a call after three rings as long as a Car Hands-Free set is plugged in.

Unless it's talking about a precise accessory and not just any old headset... it simply doesn't work as advertised. My phone rang right to voice mail (4 rings) without ever picking up the incoming call (it was a test from the home phone, no worries).

And the other Answer Settings option, "OK Only" versus "Open/AnyKey" doesn't seem to consider the button on my headset as Any Key.

I fear there is simply no way to do what I want here. But I'd love to be proved wrong! Anybody?

Meh, no worries. I think it's a lost cause. But your sympathy is appreciated!
