Phone in "Hibernation"

I have a Sagem MYX-1 phone on T Mobile payg which has suddenly stopped transmitting/receiving. On contacting Tmobile I am told that because it has not been used for some time it has gone into Hibernation mode. They want £10 to activate it. There is £7 credit on it. It is not used much because it is kept in the car for emergencies as I am 89 years old and disabled and unable to walk for help. The chap I spoke to at tmobile asked his supervisor if he would authorise reactivation as a gesture of good will but he refused. Is there anywhere I can take this further as I consider it unreasonable. Any suggestions welcome.

What utter rot you are being told.

Fones dont go on hibernation.

Its more like because you have not used the sim for a while they have simply de activated your account which networks do from time to time and then your number is sometimes used again for a new customer.

If they wont activate it then buy another sim , register it and then fone the callcentre up and transfer your credit to the new sim. They can do this as i have done the same.

Hello Lee, thank you for your reply. Subsequent to my posting I went back to T-mobile and spoke to a different person and made my feelings known to him in no uncertain terms and my phone was reactivated in a very short time. This was in part due I think at my insisting on being given the name of the managing director and the address of their head office. Regards, Meshuga.
