LG Prada or Sony Ericsson W850i

I am looking at the LG Prada or the Sony Ericsson W850i. I think I need some help in deciding which one is
a better phone in general.
I saw them both for free with free line rental on free line rental - comparing over 50,000 UK mobile phone deals every day
Thanks in advance

I had the prada for a week and then decided to pass it on for a nokia luna !

Why Not to buy
It is obviously a finger print magnet due to the touch screen, although a nice little velvet wipe is provided.

Its incoming call ringtone is permanently set to ascending.I missed loads of calls and had to keep it in my shirt pocket to pick up on the call, which was by vibrate way before i heard the ringtone. I cranked everything to full volume, and chose all sorts of tones and mp3 to no avail.

You cannot set your own incoming text alert. It has to be one of the four supplied, with only option 1 being half decent.

The supplied case is well known for actually scratching it !

Their are no present options to upgrade the software. It looks like you may have to send it away for this operation.

Texting on this handset takes time and more effort to learn. Going from capitol letters to normal letteers takes six buttons to press !

When going thro your contacts you can search by letter or scroll thro using a down arrow, but this sometimes does not respond and you end up choosing a contact your not wanting.

The key pad disappears when in a call so if your telephoning a service that needs you to choose options to continue the call ,you have to keep pressing the side button to bring the keypad back up.

A prada 2 is on the way too so I would wait if you really want this fone.

Its not comfortable to actually hold and the buttons at the bottom for send/end and backbotton are not easy to use.

The battery life is not good due to the power hungry touch screen.

It scratches very easily.

The calender option is somewhat limited.

Why to buy.

Prada name linked with LG.

Asthetically this handset looks good and does turn heads.

The touchscreen is very good , although their is some time lag when going thro the options.

The cost has now gone down and thro carfone warehouse you can pick it up for approx £250.00 prepay or free on contract.

Memory expandable.

Good range of specs to use.

You can activate power saver options to save battery , but this dims the screen. The screen savers where you can make a fish in a pond follow your finger is quirky

If you really want it then some cpw shops let you play around with a demo model, before you choose.

The sony ericson 850i is one of the best walkman fones around. Its camera is average. It offers stereo bluetooth and supports the cheaper card format to expand the memory
Dependant on use the battery is better than the prada although its way more bulky

850i is 98x47x21mm and 116g in weight.

Prada is 98.8x54x12mm and 83g in weight.

A rather nice sony ericson has just been released which is also a slider called w580i which is slimmer and looks good.

When it really comes down to it , its down to your life style and what your going to use the fone for. Practical use then i would support the sony.

Just for looks then its the prada.

Good luck with your choice.
