looking for a new phone - need sum advice/ideas

Hi, I am moving from England to the USA in a few weeks to study for a year. I will be living in the Philadelphia area and need a new phone. I need one that has a good email function - so I can communicate with friends and family back in the UK. Because of this I was considering getting a Blackberry Pearl but the rates of the plans are so expensive (I'm looking for a pre-paid plan). I also need one with messaging features, camera and one that looks good. Can anyone offer any suggestions for this stressful problem of mine. I've been looking for a while but have been getting confused with the differences between the UK and USA in operating frequencies and other things. Can someone please offer some help on a phone and a plan too. Thanks in advance, Vikesh

Good luck with your new venture.

First choose a handset that is tri or quod band if you really want to purchase a payg fone in the uk.

To be honest tho you are better off moving and then choosing a handset and operator in the usa on a 1 yr contract or payg.

Most operators in the uk put their own software on the handsets which when you put the operators sim card from the usa in it could cause compatability software issues.

Better still use m.s.n when you can !
