Very early cell phones

Have you seen what cell phones looked like when they first came out? They were huge and awkward looking. I remember a relative having one of these when I was a kid. It was so awesome back then. Now it looks like something out of the stone age. Take a look at this picture:

Look at the size of that thing! I can't even imagine considering that portable. House phones are smaller than that. I wonder if way back then they could even imagine how small cell phones would be today.

Thats too funny Renee, I think my uncle still uses a phone like this. I know my cousins were laughing because he showed up at one of their weddings with this big phone. Reminds me of those old walkie talkies.

Nowadays a computer fits in that sized!

Oh wow, that is a HUGE phone. I suppose computers were quite big back then too. I mean as technology improves it seems everything gets smaller these days. Look at the cameras you can buy now that are the size of a credit card. I know I would have to buy a bigger purse to fit that in.

Ten year process huh? Obviously they were hung up (pun intended of course) on a packaging issue.

Thats hillarious. So that was considered mobile huh? The cellphone case must have been the size of a backpack. I'm glad they've gotten smaller since then.

Nick is infamous around these parts
Back in the day it was all Nokia "Bricks" here in the UK, they would just about fit in a bag let alone a pocket.

Hmm, I think the phone in the pic is a bit longer than 10 years ago? That looks like something from "Saved By The Bell" days.

10 years ago phones like the 8110 were around.

Yeah its crazy to see how things change. We never assume that things will be as advanced as they are in the future. 50 years ago they thought a home computer in 2004 would take up an entire room..

haha, yes I can see "screetch" now carrying that thing around. sure is big, thank god technology improves because I would need a bag pack to lug that thing around.

My father had a cellphone like that once. It was from his company. When my mother cleaned their room, she found it and we just laughed at how big the cellphone was. We told her that it can still be useful, it will be used as a self defence gadget. Anyone hit by that gigantic phone will surely be knock off.

That is so funny because my sister.. just got rid of her cell phone that was the "upgrade" to that one.. the one with the battery about the size of half of a brick.. that has the nerve for the mouthpiece to flip up.. she just got a new phone and its 2006.. she had this phone since 97!

^lol

Everytime I see those old phones, it cracks me up. It's nice to go back and look at older technology and see how far we've come. Things are getting smaller and smaller, makes me kinda nervous lol.
