Hehe I'm with you, Gotham. Don't you just love caller I.D.? If it says "Unknown Name" or "Unknown Number," my answering machine is who says hello! I like my house phone though. Besides, I have to keep the house phone because I have DSL. |

My fmaily still has our home phone conected but I wish we would just get rid of it. My sister lives in New York city and she did the same thing and she loves it because she only has to pay one bill and she never misses a call. |

I don't, but I might get one at my new apartment. |

I gave up the home phone the day I got the cell. Its much easier to get in touch with me on my cell phone, and I feel like a home phone is an un-needed expense. |

yeah ... this is the trend going on here .. people are disconnecting there home phones and are buying cell phones only .. though it didnt happened at my place bcos our home phone number is too old so it wont be possible to tell every contact that we changed the number ( it will also prove costly ![]() ![]() |

Our home phone is VOIP from the cable company, and it's half the cost of our old phone - with unlimited long distance. Frankly, though, I barely use the land line and only use the cell for emergency calls. I do have teens though - and they're glued to it. The one thing I like about them using the cell though - I can track them down anywhere. They never remember to go in and remove numbers from the recent calls. |

I don't think I'd ever give up our home phone just out of sentimental reasons... but I love our caller ID! |

At first, I just found our cellphones practical and very relevant in our day to day use but when we had a landline (we should, for internet purposes), i realized it is really a must for us, if the budget is not that tight.... ![]() |

I just wish the telemarketers would go away - we're on the "don't call" list and theyr'e still calling, all charities who want to get more money and bother me so! |

I see no reason to have a home phone, and more importantly the expence of one, when anyone who needs me can reach me on my cell. |

Yea, it is cheaper than paying for 2 lines. I am thinking on the same lines. Will soon calculate and find out if this arrangement makes sense to me. |

A friend of mine got rid of her land line phone and now just uses the mobile phone for all calling. She didn't want to pay the line fees and insurance and stuff just for being hooked up to the phone compnay even though they hardly ever used the in home phone. Cuts back on telemarketers too. |
