No data is lost on unlocking your phone.

A full firmware update deletes some of your saved data so it's always best to perform a back up first.

According to me,by changing your network you can lose contacts details of your phone. So you can take care of that. Some time you can lose messages of your phone.

It depends on what kind of unlock you are undergoing for your mobile. If you unlock your phone by flashing or any other software method. you have definite chances to lose your data. If you unlock your phone using restriction code, you have no risk to lose your data. It will be safe.
If you want to unlock your mobile using unlock code. You can get it from Pro Unlocking.com at affordable cost. All the best mate.

I think you have to find mobile phone unlocking software for unlock your mobile phone. Every mobile phone supported different software so you have to search related software for unlocking your phone. You have to search on internet and download this type of software.

As you say You want to change your phone network. Then you can easily move on to another. Your all data which you have saved in phone memory will remain there. Your all data will be stay same.

Well friend you have not mention about your mobile device so that it is difficult to describe about unlock system. If you are using iPhone then you can use the Jail Broken for unlocking the phone. It will easily available from the Apple Store without paying any kind of cost.

Jailbreaking is different from unlocking.

I would recommend you to go for unlocking code or unlocking software, every phone have its own unlocking software or unlocking code, simply get those stuffs and it will help you out to unlock phone. You will be able to get unlocking code or unlocking software from your nearby store or from Internet.
