Does your phone have voice dialling?

I'm wondering if anyone might be able to help me as I'm getting a bit desperate.

Does anyone out there have a mobile which has actual number keys (i.e. which isn't a tablet phone) but also has a voice dial facility?

I use a bluetooth headset with my phone which means it needs to have a voice dialling facility, allowing me to allocate a voice command for anyone in my contacts.

My current phone is breaking and I seem to be unable to find a new one, that isn't a tablet phone, with this facility.

Everytime I ask in a shop they always say the same stupid thing which is "oh, any phone which has bluetooth will have this facility" However, I have found out to my considerable cost that this is utter nonsense and I have wasted money that I can't afford buying unsuitable phones.

Previous phones I have had with this have been things like a Motorola L6 and a Sony Ericsson C510 but there doesn't seem to be any current equivalents for these.

Any help would be appreciated but I thought the easiest thing might be to just put this question out there and if everyone could have a quick check of their current phone and see whether they are able to record tags for their contacts, you guys might come up with an answer for me.

Many, Many thanks for any help received

Hammy

Hi ,

I'm sorry but I cannot concur with your statement.

If technology stood still and didn't improve then mankind would standstill too !

The manufacturers strive to improve current specs and push the boundaries to improve the user experience.

Just imagine if the medical profession didn't continually push the boundaries of the medical world !

Thanks guys

Wow - lots of info, thank you all so much for your help with this, you've really been kind to me, given that this is the first contact I've had with this forum and the first thing I do is just ask a question.

I notice that all the phones suggested are 'tablet' style phones. I was really hoping there might be some 'normal' style phones that still had this facility as a) tablet phones are very expensive if you are not on a contract (I am on PAYG) and b) I happen to really hate them - there's something about using your fingers to 'flick' things around on the screen that I don''t like.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a technophobe - I love gadgets, I just don't happen to like this style that Apple has invented that now everyone is following.

However, I get that I am in a minority and it looks as if I am going to have to get a tablet phone maybe whether I like them or not if I want this facility.

I might have a look at how much the pantech phone is, as having just had a quick look at a picture of one, it looks more like a blackberry rather than a tablet phone.

I don't suppose there's anyone out there that has a normal mobile, with the number keys, that has this voice dialling, is there?

It's funny really, you're all so keen about the camera and other features of your phones, and you clearly love them because of that, yet for me a mobile is still for sending texts or making calls only, I'm not interested in any of the other features. I prefer to use dedicated gadgets for dedicated things, so I've got a games console for games, laptop for web browsing, kindle for reading, a professional DSLR for photos etc (which is superb by the way), video camera for videos etc.

Do you think I'm mad? Do you think there is room for both types of people in the current technological market - those who want a single 'jack of all trades' gadget, and those who want seperate, dedicated gadgets? Or do you think that iphones and it's clones are the way it is going to be going forward, we are all going to end up owning only one gadget for everything?

I'm not criticising, or complaining exactly (well maye just a little) I genuinely think it's an interesting point and I wondered what you all thought.

Thanks again for all your suggestions, and taking the time to reply, I'll look into them all and see what I think.

hammy
