dying now dead Nokia, but new battery still is dead help

Hi,

My wife's Noxia 3230 progressiveley had a shorter and shorter life until it completely died. After getting a new battery it died also. Upon starting, the white background appears, then blue Nokia writing then it dies.

Beforehand my wife's phone sent phantom mms and sms messages to people that were blank. She did not send these messages.

We have lost the original reciept so we can't get it fixed on warranty.

Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem?

Your handset is in need of a software update.

check Nokia - Nokia on the Web and follow the links to see if your handset is supported.

If not then try carfone warehouse as the handset is covered under a 2 yr limited warranty, and they can perfrom this procedure even if you didnt buy it from them. Check www.carfonewarehouse.com to see where your nearest one is that holds a repair centre in it.

As for the receipt..... go back to the shop you purchased it from.
If paid by credit card then check if you still have the statement it was on, if not ring your card company and ask for a duplicate.

It does sound like its a handset fault and taking it to the carphone warehouse would be the best bet as they fix it free of charge for you.

Unless its down to waterdamage.
