Sanyo VI 2300 backlight

Hi, This is my first post...

I've browsed around on various forums throughout the web but haven't found any help.

When talking on the Sanyo VI2300, the backlight doesn't turn off. It dims, but it won't turn off like what the Samsung A500 and other phones do. Most phones are on all the way, then it dims, then finally it's fully dark. I've set the number of seconds in the display menu and even when set it none, all it is is just dim. Now when you are browsing along the menu on the VI2300, it will be bright when you press it, then after X number of seconds it'll dim, then after some time it'll be fully dark. It will only do that when you are talking if you press that little rubber button in the top right with a paper clip or use the ear piece or speaker phone. I found that this greatly reduces the talk time. Anyone know how to make it turn off when you are talking besides speaker or using an ear piece?

Thanks...

jkpatrick

Most likely it would be on your 'Display' section of your settings on your phone. If not, check your user manual.

Yeah the display section has
Always Off
8 Seconds
15 Seconds
30 Seconds
Always On

For all those settings it's only for how long the LCD stays on BRIGHT, after that it'll DIM. For example if I set it to 8 seconds, it'll be really bright for 8 seconds, then it'll DIM, but it won't go Dark. Same with always off, it'll always be DIM but never dark. Seems like this Sanyo phone is the first phone that I've used that won't go Dark when you are talking on it.

Look for an option called DIM then, my phone had the same problem but it was right under my nose the whole time. But like I said check your owns manual with problems you might be having.

yeah, nothing in the manual. I've posted the same question in another forum and I got a reply from one that said...

"It won't ever turn off completely while in a call. This is a "feature" of Sanyo phones I guess. Nothing but unnecessary battery drain in my opinion"

So oh well, unless there is some hack through some codes, looks like that just sucks.

Oh yeah, I failed to see the during-call thing you said before. It won't completely cut off during a call because it wants you to be able to see the call information (length, other info).
