Quick addition to some great tips

Remember when you are drying the phone you must remove the keypad and seperate the plastic from the actual circuit board (this is usually a very simply procedure).
The smallest amount of water trapped under the keypad will not dry out no matter how much baking or blow drying you do.

The design of most keypads is such that once a button is pressed there is a small vacuum created that traps the water under each number.

This is the major cause of a phone not working properly after you have been able to power the phone on.

I have also found that the battery may have short circuited before doing damage to the phone. I know this sounds hard to believe, but it can happen if the battery was close to be dead prior to entering the water

I found this tip and a bunch of others on www.phonedog.com
The site has some interesting articles on cell phone insurance and why your phone drops calls and so on...

BTW the Razr unfortunately requires both a Torx #6 and Torx #3
I found this out the hard way
One is used to remove the faceplate the other is used to remove the screen (hinge screws).

Water ingression into the handset oxodises the main circuit board so the engineer knows what has happened. Many insurance policies now include water damage... just check the small print.

Dropped in Toilet

I dropped my brand new samsung in the toilet back in May(I hadnt even had it for a full month) it hit the toilet seat, the back popped off and the battery (it was in midflush) went into the deep dark unknown. So I havent been able to turn it on or anything. Since it was been several months since the accident would it be worth it to get a new battery to test it? I didn't take it apart or anything, I just let it dry naturally.
