Lightbulb New Phone

Hi everyone, I would like some advice for my next phone, I have a Samsung D900 and was thinking about the Samsung G600 or the Nokia 6500, any other suggestions?
I am looking for a phone with a decent camera for less than £150.
Thanks!

Hi !

Both fones you mention are solid handsets although I'm somewhat biased towards Nokia.

Take into account that their are some good highstreet retailers that sell used handsets with warranties.

Pm me if you would like the name of the one I use.

Carfone warehouse do some good deals as sim free which are unlocked to all networks and sometimes are cheaper on payg which are also unlocked.

Thanks! I do prefer the samsungs camera but the nokia does have carl zeiss optics. Although the nokia is quite chunky, but it has a proper auido jack. I am on payg with o2 but I am thinking of changing to vodafone .
What is it about the nokia that you prefer?

Nokia provide ;

Good battery life.
Solid build quality.
Both s40 and s60 have easy to use menus.
Specs are rich.
2yr limited warranty.
Very good at hanging onto signal strength.
Easy to update software , either free update under warranty or if supported by way of the updater on Nokia - Nokia on the Web

Enjoy whichever you choose !

Thumbs up

Thanks very much for the info, you have been EXTREMELY helpfull. I'm still stuck though . I think I will decide when I next go to the phone shop as I can then feel them in my hand to see if I like them. I have read detailed reviews on both of them and they both seem like good phones. I have never tried Nokia, neither Sony Ericsson or LG, although I know I would'nt buy a Sagem or Motorola phone again!!
Anyway, thanks for the helpful advice!

dlbot, I just tried to compare these cell phones by reviews and here are the details:

Samsung SGH-G600

Score: 9.2 out of 10 based on reviews from 69 sources in 15 countries.

Nokia 6500

Score: 9.1 out of 10 based o reviews from 35 sources in 17 countries.

So as you can see yourself the best score has the first one.
As for me - I'm totally agree with the crowd, anyway it's up to you

I have decided to get the Samsung G600. Thanks very much to everyone for all your help! I went to the store today to pick up my G600, when I noticed it had been reduced to £99.99 in the O2 store, and so I went in and just as I was about to pay, the person helping me at the counter says, oh wait this one is pink. So she checks the stock and says it is the only one the have, so I ended up walking home empty handed.
I am hoping to get the phone on Sunday, and hopefully they will have stock, if not, I shall probably just go to another retailer.

Once again, thanks for all the detailed info!

BlackBerry Smartphone Capabilities

The BlackBerry Smartphone Capabilities
The First Converged BlackBerry smartphone
When in Wi-Fi coverage areas, the BlackBerry smartphone utilizes the broadband connection to transmit and receive the data
between the smartphone and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Whether browsing the Internet or intranets, accessing back-end
applications or receiving PIM information, the BlackBerry smartphone exploits the increased capabilities of the Wi-Fi connection,
reducing the time it takes to complete data transmissions. The larger, faster data connection afforded by Wi-Fi broadens the range
of content and applications that can be accessed more quickly and efficiently by the BlackBerry smartphone. This includes video,
large sets of data or other multimedia....

While connected to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server via a Wi-Fi connection, the BlackBerry smartphone has ability to complete data
transactions while on a cellular voice call. This capability allows the user to be more productive during a phone call. For example,
allowing the user to create/respond to email, check PIM, and carry on an enterprise messaging conversation or access corporate
information on the Intranet all while on a conference call.

Sorry but there is NOOOOOOO WAY you'll get a Nokia N95 8GB for £150. Your looking £300 still easily! If they were I know I would have known lol!

I Paid £200 for mine about 9 months ago.
It was unlocked but had the Vodafone firmware on it so i de-branded it etc and so now i have a debranded fully unlocked N95 8GB and it only cost me £200, My contract is only £10 per month (sim only) as well so the whole package was very reasonable

On Saturday i went shopping and went in to 2 second hand electrical shops

One shop had one for £150.00 exactly and the other had them from £145

(the second shop's ones at that price were scratched etc but fully functioning and with charger etc. They also went up to £300 for boxed brand new ones)

So if you look around you'll get one for the right price

Cool

Feel free to still use this thread but if you did not see I already have my new phone and have had for some time, check the post I wrote. Thanks for the responses guys.

Regarding the N95 thats a good price, but I don't really like that sort of thing. Im upgrading AGAIN to an LG Cookie (KP500) soon

I see what you mean, the touch HD looks pretty sweet.

Im not too sure about branding to be honest, I have never used a HTC handset before.

Do you like the Blackberry Storm? I thinkm it is quite a well designed device.
