A problem with receiving text messages..

I've done a search before I posted and it yielded no results..

I have a Sony Ericsson W580i - and I have been using it fine for the past week or so.. but now I can't receive texts messages.

I can send them and make and receive phone calls - I just can't get the text messages.

I have turned it on and off again, took out the battery for a while, and tried a reset. Nothing.

If I put my sim in another phone though the messages come through.

However.. If I put the Ericsson by a speaker it makes that "dun der dun" noise as if it's getting a text message then stops short as if the phone has just not accepted it.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Look in the settings menu for your text messages to ensure the correct ones are selected.

Ask your network to send you their settings via text message. They may give you a pin number so when you rcv the settings you can enter the pin to accept. Then choose activate for the new settings. Hopefully that should clear the issue
