Formatting Nokia N95 8GB

Hi All,

I have an unlocked Nokia N95 8GB and over time i have been installing loads of third party apps to the memory card.

The problem is that i think it has now slowed the phone down and as i dont really use most of them i want to get rid of them all and reinstall only the 3 or so that i ever use.

I have just updated the firmware and now most of them seem to have gone from the Applications menu but they are still there and installed and i cant remove them with the Apps Manager.

Is there a way i can completely format both the phone memory and the Memory card and just start again completely from scratch?

I dont mind reinstalling anything or loosing all my photos and music etc as i have it all on my pc

Download the Nokia suite from Nokia - Nokia on the Web

Also restore to factory settings.

Or go onto the updater and action a software update and or a firmware update.

Cheers Lee,

I have already done the firmware update using the Nokia Updater software.
It removed all my contacts and settings but everything else is still there.

The apps that i had installed have mostly disappeared from the Applications menu but they are still there as well

To format a nokia handset you can use the nokia code *#7370# , once entered the phone will ask for the security code (default 12345).

That cpde only resets the factory settings, it does not format the drives

Figured it out...

You can format the Memory card from inside the menus.
It completely reset the phone back to factory and got rid of all the junk i put on there.

Funny thing tho, i downloaded a few more programs and now my text inbox is not storing messages properly and my texts are all in the wrong order.

I had texts waiting to come in but they wouldnt appear in there untill i rebooted it even though the little icons were on the screen to say i had a text
