LOL, a cell phone jammer. That would be awesome. Or a zapper, or something to throw at the guy who's ringing. Or, sit next to him and ring your phone and talk as LOUD as possible next to him xD That's just like handling telemarketers, instead of buying their product, you offer them a product xD

Why would you pay money to go see a movie -- and then spend the time talking on the phone? The concept boggles my mind. I've actually never had this happen to me... the closest we came was the day my mom lost her cell phone at the theater and discovered it when we left and she tried to call my dad to tell him we were on our way. The manager did a search of the theater we'd been in with his little flashlight.. no dice.. it took us nearly twenty minutes to even THINK to have him call the phone from the theater phone... and we found it in the car where it had slipped beneath the seat.

it just boggles my mind - unless you're a heart transplant specialist or some such thang, there's NO reason why you can't take a few hours out of your life and disconnect from the phone.

bah, humbug.

Yes, nowadays people are becoming more and more understanding and respectful to other movie-goers but you can still some bunch of kids or some stupid people try their best to ruin the movie for others.

Talking on your cell phone is absurd in a movie theater. i think getting upset about the web surfing is a little nit picky. i mean really, at least they arnt talking. I would much prefer a text messager to a talker.

Right on Thumperfive. It amazes me how many people can't disconnect from the friggin phone for a couple of hours. Maybe they'll be the next "victimized" group in our society: I could see the headline now: "Charlie Sheen checked into Betty Ford Center for Cell Phone Addiction..."

Just the other night I had a conversation with someone at a coffee shop about how she couldn't control herself with phones. During the middle of this conversation, my phone rang. I mentioned this to her. I didn't answer it. It seemed like a straightforward enough matter to me, but she just couldn't wrap her brain around the concept.

The people responsible for deciding which side of the plate a salad fork goes on need to lay down some cell phone etiquette ground rules.

they can, but it depends on how WE the public react to them. If you try to shush someone in a theater you get a dirty look.

keep calling the manager or the ushers.

Hatmandu: Even before cell phones and caller ID, this was the case. Sometimes if I had people over and my phone rang and I didn't answer it, people would start to squirm nervously because I wasn't answering my phone. This is how society is conditioned - and its only gotten worse with cell phones. We've become a society of reactive people instead of proactive people.

I make people squirm all the time because I don't answer my phone... cell or home. Unless I'm expecting it or I know there's a chance that someone important will be calling me, I don't bother with it. Life's too short to worry about telemarketers
