Problem with Blackberry Pearl 8110 T-Mobile SMS Service

Hi all this is my first post on this site, I have a new Vodafone Blackberry Pearl 8110, I have had it unlocked so I can use my T-Mobile Account and replace my ageing Nokia N70.

The two problems I have are SMS & Voicemail related, I have inputted the service centre number of +447958879879 to my SMS file, tried to send an sms and the phone seems to switch off and then reboot, when I return to the file Options and SMS the service centre number is gone although I had saved it, the message also has a red x next to the message Not Sent. I had no problem using this number with my Nokia N70.

Voicemail, when I press button 1 for voicemail an automated voice tells me "calls to this number are barred".

Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated as I have been trying to solve these issues for two days now.
Ian

How much Memory is free on the Pearl? If a Blackberry has under 10mb of data on the internal phone memory it will cause the problems you have described with the phone reverting settings/switching off etc.

You could try doing a 'Wipe Handheld'. This will restore the phone back to its factory settings. But make sure you back up your contacts, videos, photos, etc. as it will wipe all data on the phone. To do this go to Options > Security Options > General Settings > Hit the Blackberry menu key > Wipe Handheld.

I expect your '1' key is not configured for T-Mobile and is trying to dial your old providers voicemail number. I'm not aware of any setting that will change this. Just dial the full speed dial to access your voicemail (Not sure what this is for T-Mobile, possibly 123?).

Hi George and thanks for your help, I have sorted the voicemail issue but still stumped on the SMS, not quite sure where to find phone memory at present but I imagine I have a fair bit of memory as I have reduced a lot of contacts I have not used in a while.
The Blackberry is brand new and the sim comes from my N70 Nokia
