How to 'unlock' my phone?

How does unlocking work? Is there any way I can unlock the phone myself of do I have to get a company to do it? Is it all legal?

I'm not 100% sure but I think it is done via a computer. It should be possible to do it yourself so try googling it and see if you come across any tutorials.

As for it being illegal, I wouldn't have thought so because I know many shops that will do it for around £10 in the UK.

By unlocking a phone are you invalidating any warranty/ insurance you may have? COuld it damage the phone if not done correct?

What do you mean by unlocking it? Like someone put a lock code before you can use it?

Is this the store lock that you get when you buy it? If so it will screw up your phone unless its unlocked right.

Nokia phones can be unlocked via calculators usually, but others you usually need to get your provider to do it. Motorola's are especially hard to unlock.

If you search google people have listed ways to unlock virtually every phone model that exists, so this shouldn't be a problem.

I think "unlocking" refers to making it open to any provider. This is just an educated guess, though, and I've been wrong in the past.

If you search the net you can find software thats nearly always free to unlock most phones. Not sure if it invalidates warranties though.

I don't understand what you mean by unlocking. Do you mean you forgot your password to unlock it? if so i would suggest contacting your phone network.
