Transfering music

I got my new Phone and Laptop recently, I got the Phone mainly for the music. Its a Sony ericsson W580i and I'm very pleased with it, however after trying to install the PC Suite I found out that it can't be installed on Vista. So my question is, can I still download music from Napster and then transfer it to my Phone? Also, will a PC Suite be available any time soon for Vista?

I would really appreciate your help.

Thank you for your time,

Music Transfer

Yes you can transfer music files from your laptop to your phone. Just switch on the bluetooth of your laptop and your handset. then go to sound file and right click on the file. there will be an option for send, where you can get an option for send via bluetooth. Just click on that option, your laptop will start searching for other devices. after completion of search for devices it'll show your phone. Click on it then it wiil start pairing with tour phone just type any code in laptop and then your phone will ask for the code, type the same code and File transfer will start.

Thanks for your reply. I don't think I could do the Bluetooth way, is it possible to transfer the music by a USB cable? I would feel more confident this way.

Try conecting it via usb as you say, and check in my computer and it may see it as a hard drive. If so, you will then be able to open that up as a seperate window and then manually drag the tracks or folders of tracks you want to the desired folders on the phone. Thats what I do with my Nokia, I copy the tracks off I-tunes as this way, I fit more tracks on with the lower quality.

Try this link to Sony Ericson's home page and choose the link support and then software downloads for their current pc suite. It states this version is Vista compatable.

System requirements
  • Pentium II - 233 MHz or more
  • 128 MB RAM
  • 50 MB hard drive space
  • Windows XP (all versions SP1/SP2) or Windows Vista (all versions)

Sony Ericsson - Home
