nokia 8801 "sim registration failed" help!!!!

Hi all,

I have recently been given a nokia 8801 by a very good friend of mine... I went to put my O2 contract sim in and it says sim registration failed... but O2-UK still comes up on the screen with a full signal!!... every time i try to call out it say error in connection and every time i try to ring it, it goes straight to voicemail...the phone is 100% unlocked as i've tried it with t-mobile and vodafone contract sims without a hitch!!...this is driving me mad! can anyone please help?

Thanks

I would take it to another unlocking place to let them look at it, maybe try another 02 sim card. Or..I would move network all together if I had to. But yes is does sound like a strange one, maybe its not 'fully' un locked, sometimes they are unlocked to 'most' networks, just let them check it out.

Another issue sometimes present is that when the handset is unlocked to all other networks it has trouble being used on the original network. So if it was on 02 originally this may be the case.

As you state when you insert another networks sim it functions as it should, so the handset does not have any software faults.

Have you tried another 02 sim card to ensure yours is not the issue.

And yes follow the other persons advice to ensure it is fully locked.

Check all the settings are Ok within the handset too.

Good luck.

Yeah ! I agree with you Dyna milk . "Sim registration failed " message indicates that your No0kia 8801 may be locked with a particular carrier or it may not be fully unlocked by the technicians. Many of the unlocked phones have the same problem what you had . Try to solve it by contacting your service provider or get unlock code from the provider Theunlockspot.com to unlock your Nokia again to work with your new sim card .
